Åland Sailing Robots  

“The Velvet is a smaller version of the SeaQuester from US Naval Academy. Hull, mast and keel built for Åland Sailing Robots by Kuressaare Small Craft Competence Center in Estonia, will hopefully sail by WRSC.”

Åland Sailing Robots started as a student project at Åland UAS in 2013. During 2016-2018 we have had more resources for development of the ASPire, a wind propelled autonomous surface vessel for marine research.

AberSailbot (Aberystwyth)  

“Dewi’r Ddraig is our original robot, a 1.3 metre long MaxiMOOP hull with a 2 metre sail, weighing in at 27KG.”

The team of Aberystwyth University students was originally started by a small group of first year undergraduates in 2012.

ENSTA Bretagne (Brest)  

“The vessel is entirely home made. Its construction started two years ago by a group of student as their second year project. For a few months, the current team has continued to build it in order to participate to the 2018 WRSC.”

SJTU (Shanghai)   

“We designed this boat for teaching and researching usage.The sailboat has two rigid sail wings with NACA0012 airfoil profile. It has a sister boat with the same mail hull but has a single soft sail.”

The team assembled by Professor Xu has 7 members from his lab in SJTU and 3 members from his company Seastel.

Southampton Sailing Robot Team    

“Everything breaks. And then we will fix it!”

The Southampton Sailing Robot team was started in 2015, it is open to everyone in the area of Southampton. Most of the team members are students of the University of Southampton.
